Workshop 2018 (Kick off)

To ensure that the LIRLAP project benefits from the expertise of a wide spectrum of inter-sectoral stakeholders, TUDO, in cooperation with the UP SURP co-organized a two-day Stakeholder Workshop held on the 1st and 2nd February 2018 at the UP SURP, Quezon City, with the following objectives: 

  • To identify relevant stakeholders and their concerns and interests regarding the
  • integration of disaster risk reduction and spatial planning for rapid urbanization development and its informal settlements;
  • To identify potential of case study sites, demand assessment regarding tools and methods to guide planning under informality, scope the potential for co-financing from the Philippines side; and
  • To widen the cooperation to non-academic partners being responsible for land-use planning and disaster risk management in the Philippines.

The workshop was conducted to give stakeholder participants the opportunity to present and discuss strategic risk reduction under conditions of urban informality, and to identify concerns and interests of the local actors being involved in the management of disaster risk and land-use in the Philippines on the national, provincial and local of level. Moreover, the workshop aimed at widening the cooperation to non-academic partners being responsible for land-use planning and disaster risk management in the Philippines.
